The work emerged from my PhD research at London College of Fashion. The work here are experiments and are intended to progress by working with actual patterns rather than digital, drafted by Nina Penlington, Under Cutter of Dege & Skinner. My participation is sponsored by Margaret Street Gallery, London College of Fashion, Aura Lingerie and Nina Kullberg. Please get in touch with Nina at nina@ninakullberg.co.uk for Press Release and images.

Dead Man’s Patterns exhibition, London College of Fashion Library

Hormazd-for-web2 Hormazd-for-web1I was so pleased when London College of Fashion acquired my first book Dead Man’s Patterns for their Special Collections. It is currently on display along with a Memento Mori Skull in the college library. Visit here for more information. Thank you LCF!

“Toy Soldiers” tailoring patterns

Nina Penlington, the under cutter at Dege & Skinner, Savile Row No.10 was so kind to make me unique drawn military patterns in 1/4 scale – they look like little toy soldiers (perhaps like an actual pattern is an abstraction of a full size man). They were drafted especially for me – the intention is to carefully cut them in a way that I’m able to utilise the negative space to create the love gardens. These will also be replicated in acetate – it’s very exciting I’m able to work with the luxury of actual patterns (pencil on paper). Thank you Nina!

I spent this morning at Dege & Skinner, Savile Row No.10 with military pattern cutter Nina Penlington who has been so kind enough to cut me some uniform patterns which (might) be used for the sculptures I’m making in response to my PhD research at London College of Fashion to be presented at Collect 2013 produced by the Crafts Council, England and hosted at Saatchi Gallery, London. My good friend and talented photographer Daniel K Schweitzer took the photos for me. Also visit his commercial agent.

I don’t think my Valentine has been so enchanting! The Love-Nest Private view was such a warm, friendly and stylish night at Margaret Street Gallery. Little love hearts showed the way to the backroom of the mews where the art was installed. Vestal vodka and Eager grapefruit juice was served in double shot glasses – delicious, and Miles Davis set the tone of the night. The exhibition was a successful one – it’s by far my best work – as my friend and fellow artist Ed Burton points out. I’m also very grateful that the gallery will be supporting my participation at Collect 2013 produced by the Crafts Council, england and hosted by Saatchi Gallery. Thanks once again to the staff for making a special night and the young talented photographer Sasha alexander who photographed the night.

I am really pleased that my final post for 2012 is an announcement of some rather special news! I can reveal that 10 pieces of work from my Love Garden series will feature alongside 9 other artists at Project 10 during Collect, the international art fair for contemporary objects produced by the Crafts Council, England held at Saatchi Gallery in May 2013. My participation will be supported by Debbie Goldman from Margaret Street Gallery and the University of arts, London where my PhD is based. The work has developed during my Phd at London College of fashion in both 2-d and 3-d form. I will post more progress images and news to follow – a very Happy New Year to you all and thank you very much for your support for 2012.
