Menswear-Insight-Hormazd-Narielwalla Hormazd-narielwalla=menswear-insight2Really chuffed to see a double-spread in the April issue of Menswear Insight in relation to my residency at Margaret Street Gallery where I prepare 5 sculptures to be exhibited at the Crafts Council’s Collect2013 at Saatchi Gallery.

I spent this morning at Dege & Skinner, Savile Row No.10 with military pattern cutter Nina Penlington who has been so kind enough to cut me some uniform patterns which (might) be used for the sculptures I’m making in response to my PhD research at London College of Fashion to be presented at Collect 2013 produced by the Crafts Council, England and hosted at Saatchi Gallery, London. My good friend and talented photographer Daniel K Schweitzer took the photos for me. Also visit his commercial agent.

My work featured in DASH Magazine

I was approached to make a drawing for the illustration magazine DASH. The brief was Minimalism in music – of course I responded to it very quickly – I love Philip Glass. I redid my Anansi figure to create – The Tribe! Also like my Frida Khalo meets stylish Roman priest collage portrait in the contributors page. Thank you DASH!

The Return of the ‘real’ Anansi

I am so glad to welcome back the real Anansi – my good friend/muse Akinkunmi Fadairo (see pic with the artist).

I first met the New Yorker whilst we were both completing our respective Masters at the University of Westminster. A Study on Anansi was my first solo show at Paul Smith’s Albermarle Street gallery, which featured Akin as a vector illustration. It also happens to be my header for The art of Hormazd Narielwalla.com, and subsequently I responded to Valentine’s day by making the series Anansi in LoveThe series also featured as a window installation in Sheridan’s headquarters.

The below new work is a response to welcoming Akin, back to London. I am so fortunate to have him back in my life for a short period and these works are a homage  to our friendship!
